How the VTag.ID Business Directory works
The VTag.ID Business Directory lists businesses that use VTag.ID. This page explains what a listing is, what it is not, and how the order of results is decided. Please read it before you rely on anything you find here.
We do not check or endorse the businesses listed
Every listing is written and controlled by the business itself. VTag.ID does not verify, vet, inspect, endorse or recommend any business in this directory. A listing is not a referral, a rating, an approval or a sign of quality. We are not a party to any agreement you make with a business you find here, and we are not responsible for the work they do, the prices they charge or the way they behave.
Licence numbers and credentials are self reported
Where a listing shows a licence number, a certification, a bond, an insurance claim or a number of years in business, that information was supplied by the business and has not been checked by VTag.ID. Licences expire, get suspended and get revoked, and we have no way to know when that happens. Before you hire anyone, confirm their licence directly with the authority that issued it. In California, contractor licences can be checked free with the Contractors State License Board.
Paid placement is disclosed
Being listed in this directory is free. Businesses on a paid VTag.ID plan can appear above other listings and can show more detail, including a logo, a description, opening hours and credentials. Those listings are marked Featured. Featured means the business pays for a VTag.ID plan. It does not mean we rate them more highly, and it says nothing about the quality of their work.
Results are ordered by paid status first, then by distance from the location you searched for, then alphabetically. We do not accept payment to rank one business above another within the same plan.
Opening hours, distance and availability are a guide
Opening hours come from the business and may be wrong or out of date. Distance is worked out from the centre of a postal code, not from a street address, so it is approximate and can be out by a few miles. Whether a business is shown as open is calculated from the hours they entered and the time zone of the state they gave. Always call ahead.
Reporting a listing
If a listing is inaccurate, misleading, impersonates a business, uses a logo or photographs without permission, or should not be published, contact us at support@vtag.id and tell us which listing and what is wrong. We will look into it and we may remove or suspend a listing at any time.
Your location
If you use the Use my location button, your browser asks your permission before sharing your position, and you can refuse and type a town or postal code instead. When you do use it, your approximate position is sent to us once, rounded to about one kilometre, purely to work out the nearest town name to put in the search box. We do not store it, we do not log it and we do not use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for more.
Changes
We may update this page as the directory develops. The version published here is the one that applies.
